Opening Weekend

The San Joaquin Delta College Women's Wrestling team opened its season Saturday at the Wolverine Open hosted by Sierra College, finishing third out of 11 teams. The Lady Mustangs showed depth and toughness across the brackets in their first competition of the year.

Leading the way was Kayleen Tuavao, who captured first place in her division. Linda Mora and Zoey Ridenour each earned second-place finishes, while Kiana Quintero placed third and Perla Camacho Meza added a fifth-place result.

Coaches were pleased with the team's effort and competitiveness throughout the tournament and look forward to building on the strong start. The Lady Mustangs return to action next week at the Cerritos Open in Los Angeles.
