Mustangs ranked #1 in the State

For the third week in a row, the Mustang volleyball team is ranked #1 in the State of California.  Their current record is 15-1 and 3-0 in Big Eight conference play.  This past week the Mustangs defeated American River College 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 28-26) and Sierra College 3-2 (25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 19-25, 15-8).  ARC was ranked 2nd in the state and Sierra 5th in the state at the time of the matches.  Delta was led by sophomore co-captains Emily Vickers and Caprisa Brock.  Vickers led the team with 32 kills, 27 digs and 9 service aces in the defeats of ARC and Sierra.  Brock had 72 assists, 15 kills, and 19 digs.  The defense was anchored by defensive specialists Kyra Saiers (27 digs), Annyssa Arroyo (27 digs) and Chase Silva (16 digs).   

The Mustangs resume league play on Wednesday at 6:00 pm against Modesto. On Friday, the Mustangs play Sac City at 6:00 pm. Both matches are at home in the Marcopulos gym and admission is free.
