Bio

Vanessa Contreras is an accomplished former collegiate softball player and current Assistant Softball Coach at San Joaquin Delta College. A standout infielder for the Delta College Mustangs from 2015–2017, Contreras was a key contributor to one of the program’s most successful eras.

During her sophomore season in 2017, she earned 3CFCA All–State and All–Big 8 honors, helping lead the Mustangs to the Big 8 Championship and a California JuCo Final Four appearance. That year she hit .398 with a team-leading 16 doubles and finished second on the team with 48 runs scored and 48 RBI. She also recorded a remarkable 15-game hitting streak from late February through early April. As a freshman in 2016, Contreras hit .426, paced the team with 17 doubles and four triples, and scored 37 runs while posting a lengthy hitting streak early in the season. Her on-field performance was defined by consistent contact, extra-base power, and an ability to deliver in key situations.

After completing her collegiate playing career, Contreras continued her passion for the sport by transitioning into coaching. She now brings her firsthand experience, technical knowledge, and competitive insight to the Mustang softball program, where she serves as an assistant coach under head coach Jim Fisher. In her coaching role, she focuses on player development, offensive strategy, and mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field. Contreras holds a Bachelors of science in kinesiology and has remained an active member of the Delta College Athletics community.
