Delta takes down ARC and Folsom Lake
STOCKTON, CA — The San Joaquin Delta College Beach Volleyball team proved why they are the team to beat in the Big 8 Conference, picking up two wins against Folsom Lake College and American River College (ARC) this week at the University of the Pacific sand courts.
Coming into the tri-dual, all three programs held undefeated conference records. By the end of the afternoon, only the Mustangs remained atop the standings.
In a pair of tightly contested 3–2 victories, Delta relied on its depth and mental toughness to edge out its rivals.
Against Folsom, the duo of Silva and Oliveira set the tone with a gritty straight-sets win (21-19, 23-21), while Singh/Zamudio and Lung/J. Beers' performances secured the overall team victory.
The momentum carried into the clash with American River. While ARC's top pairs pushed Delta to the limit, the Mustangs' #1 pair, Gray and T. Beers, delivered a clutch 21-18, 21-19 win. The match of the day belonged to Lung and J. Beers, who rallied after dropping their first set to win a thrilling three-set tiebreaker (13-21, 21-16, 15-8), clinching the sweep for Delta.
With these victories, the Mustangs improve to an impressive 6-2 overall record and a perfect 4–0 in Big 8 play.
The Mustangs look to keep the streak alive as they prepare to hit the road to take on Sacramento City and Marin College.
