He was selected to the All-State Teams in Football and Baseball and was recognized as the “State Athlete of the Year”. In 1956, Coach Jordan attend Rollins College where he participated in baseball. In 1957, he attended BYU, and later Cal Poly SLO, playing football at both institutions. His coaching career began at Riverdale HS, where he was named CIF Coach of the Year. From there, he joined the college ranks at the University of Pacific from 1970 to 1977. In 1978 he was the offensive coordinator at the University of Arizona. In ’79, Coach Jordan guided the Wildcat Offense to the Fiesta Bowl.
In 1980, Jack returned to Stockton as the head football coach at San Joaquin Delta College. Coach Jordan was the CCCFCA President in 1989. He was the driving force behind gathering a few men together (some are here today), to develop what is now the CCCFCA Hall of Fame Ceremony. If it had not been for Jack Jordan, this ceremony may not exist.
The first banquet was held at a hotel in San Jose. On that inaugural day, many of the inductees wore tuxedos and some dressed in “black tie”. It was very formal and impressive. Our good friend Chris Pappas, who was our Hall of Fame Chair for over 30 years stated, “I have always thought of Jack and his wife, Jan, who were married for 47 years, as the patriarch and matriarch of the CCCFCA Hall of Fame”. Along with his induction today, he is also an inductee in the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame and the Providence Gridiron Hall of Fame. Accepting for Coach Jordan, will be his wife, Jan. Also in attendance is son, Jeff Jordan, his wife Miranda, and their two children, Jackson, and Chris.
